The first place we visited at Phillip Island is Koala Conservation Centre, where we can see the Koala live in their native habitat, the eucalyptus trees. We had to walk along the boardwalk and looked at the top of the trees, found out where all these koalas are sleeping.
Sleeping? Yes, they actually sleep for 20 hours and 4 hour for eating. That’s the only thing they do. This is because their diet, the eucalyptus leaves, are poisonous and only has low energy. Their body has some kind of bacteria to kill off that poisons, and that absorbs a lot of energy from the koalas. That’s why they always appear exhausted and sleepy!
