How Nature and Humanity Evolves in Cappadocia

Two of us admiring the beauty and ingenious life in Cappadocia

Cappadocia has such a unique landscape. The region was formed 60 million years ago by erosion of soft layers of lava and ash from surrounding mountains composing with wind and rain over millions of years.

These geographical events created fairy chimneys – the people then carved houses and churches inside these chimneys. One of the castle in Ortahisar is known as the first human multi-storeys settlement in the world. And the ingenious design of the cave and underground houses protect them from enemies and freak of nature.

We spent three days exploring this area, learning the rich history of prior human settlements in their efforts to survive, strive and leave the legacies we’re now admiring. Such a remarkable trace of how nature and humanity evolved.
