I did expect there would be slight discomfort in my knee when I planned to run in Perth. But I didn’t expect it to hurt so much.
Yeah, my knees are not completely healed since the injury in the mini soccer game. But they’ve been getting better recently. I even managed to complete my first HM race a couple of weeks ago.
So I thought I was alright for the 10K run this morning. But apparently, the chilly winter temperature aggravated my injury. My right knee hurt with every step forward, so I could only do fast walking. However, I remember my previous experience, which is that if I soldiered on, the pain would subside and I would be able to run again.
And it was exactly like that. But not until 3 km. After which I could start to run at a slow pace.
I ran from my Air BNB house in the Subiaco area and headed to Kings Park.

And it was right when I arrived at Kings Park area, my knees could stand running. The excellent running track and the combination of preserved garden and natural forest in Kings Park made me feel that holding up to the pain was worth it.
Furthermore, the weather was fantastic. The sun was shining, so the chill air didn’t feel too bad. The clean air of Perth was also contrast to what we normally breathe in Jakarta. All of those helped me to finally run 11.5 km back home in Subiaco. Of course, after taking great pictures and videos along the way.
