Annual Sports Review 2025

Some of my sports activities in 2025

As I changed my occupation in 2025, I relatively have more time in performing exercises. In fact, my wish is actually fulfilled: to be able to do exercises before start working just like in Covid days.

But did I fulfill my Sports Resolution in 2025? Let’s see..

Review of My 2025 Sports Resolution

Last year this is my resolution:

  • Do Another Triathlon Race. Yes, I finally did another triathlon race. Although it wasn’t Bintan Triathlon as I planned earlier. But I managed to participate in ITB Jatiluhur Triathlon. Although it was “only” Sprint Distance, but it was the hardest triathlon event I ever participated. Solely because of the hellist bike leg. Read my experience here.
  • Continue to be consistent in gym. Yes, I think I’m now even more consistent than last year. I think I managed to do at least one Strength Training every week. Although it’s not always in Gym, and I didn’t have my Personal Trainer anymore. But I felt I had better muscle definition and body shape. Although bulking is still my challenges. But at least I’m healthy and feel stronger than ever.
  • Running – no I wasn’t able to improve my PB. The knee injury barred me to doing so. And I still nursed it throughout the year. Sigh. But at least I’m now already able to run without the knee supporters, although it wasn’t at the pace I used to be. And I managed to complete Half Marathon race in BTN Jakarta International Marathon.
  • Cycling – the only resolution I failed to complete. I signed up for Il Festino since beginning of last year. But due to schedule conflicts with the ITB Jatiluhur Triathlon, I deferred my participation to this year (2026). Hopefully I can join the event. And joining the race from the comfort of my new home in Jogja, it sounds fantastic!
  • Break 80 again in Golf. Not happening. Yet. There were times when I thought during the round I would break 80 again, only to found late double bogeys wrecked my score. But I feel like I’m playing better golf right now, and believe that day will come 🙂

My 2025 Review According to Strava

Despite of feeling to have more time for exercise, according to Strava I have less Active Days compared to 2024. It’s not much though. I have 191 days, less 3 days from 2024 (5% down). In term of distance, it even down more (9% down)

In term of which sports I spent most time with, similar to 2024, Golf took most hours of my Sports days (no wonder, it took at least 4 hours per round). Strength Training came again in second, followed by Running.

One stats which made me a bit proud is the 50 weeks of consecutive active days. It’s almost a year I have at least a day with sports in a week. This made me Top 6% of Strava users. Currently I’m in 41 consecutive weeks, so I think I’ll make a better one than last year: get full year with consecutive active days, or more!

Golf Stats 2025

Golf Stats of 2025
  • Apparently I know where my extra time went in 2025: it’s on the golf course. I played 32 round of golf in 2025. It was 3 more than in 2024.
  • My Average Score was 85,4. Improved slightly from 86.0 in 2024
  • Handicap in GolfShots is now 10.4, same as in 2024.
  • My Best Round was in Riverside again, scoring 81. I posted a bit more rounds in low 80s, but still has not enough to make me winning a tournament 🙂
  • Fairway Hits and GIR have not been changed for the past few years. It’s in the 66-67% for fairway hits, and 32-33% for GIRs. No wonder my Handicap is not going any lower 🙂
  • Interesting insights came from Garmin Golf app. Compared to the players with similar Handicap, Driving is still the strength of my game. Even Driving Distance is I’m better than 87% of golfers with similar handicap. But one thing that I got to improve is on Approach and Chip, whereas I’m only better than 45% and 39% of the group. Not really a news, but it still become my areas of improvement if I want to score lower in 2026.

New Sports Gears

  • I bought myself Garmin S70 watch. I’ve been eyeing this watch for quite sometime, replacing my Garmin Forerunner 945 which had served me well for the past 5 years.
  • And to complement the watch, I bought Garmin CT10. It’s a golf tag device which can track shot-by-shot of my round. If you’re following my writing from the past couple of years, you know that I’m a stats and gadget freak. I have soft spot for this technology. I bought Game Golf, Golf Scope, and now I use the Garmin system.
  • Not really my Sports Gear, but as I often use it for running while I’m traveling for work or leisure, I will add my New Balance Fuel Cell Propel as one of my new sports gear. I kinda like this shoes, as it’s black colors work well with any attire, and its sole is also good enough as proper running exercise shoe. Below is my picture wearing the new shoe while running in Jogja.

My 2026 Sports Resolution

Ok, so let’s go to the 2026 Sports Resolution. Many of these may not new, but anyway, here we go again:

  • Golf: Shoot in 70s, win a tournament, and lower my handicap by improving my Chipping stats.
  • Running: Join Jogja Marathon or another official race. If condition allows, may think of joining Full Marathon abroad. Not a resolution, but let’s see how it goes.
  • Cycling: Join Il Festino or another Grand Fondo cycling event. Clock more mileages of cycling than last year.
  • Strength Training: Stay consistent and improve muscle definition. If possible, gain more muscle mass and weight.

So there you go, hopefully I will be writing another post next year, with a good accomplishments. Or more importantly: in healthy body and mind!

See you next year!
